Fiberglass pools arrive as one large shell on a truck. Because the shell is wide and long, it's usually lifted by crane from the truck and set into the dug hole, often over a house, fence or landscaping.
Info that helps providers plan
- Shell length and width, and the weight from the pool maker's spec sheet
- Distance from where the crane can set up to the center of the hole
- Overhead power lines, trees and roof lines along the lift path
- Delivery time of the shell, so the crane and truck arrive together
Before you schedule
- Pool installers usually coordinate the crane with the shell delivery. Confirm who is booking it.
- Keep the crane setup spot clear of cars and soft or freshly dug ground.
- Check with your city or county about pool and fence requirements before the dig.
